VIC:Victorian emergency workers on standby
MELBOURNE, Jan 11 AAP - The Victorian government is awaiting a request from Queensland
to send police and volunteer emergency workers to the flood-hit state.
Police Minister Peter Ryan says 30 to 40 State Emergency Services volunteers are on
standby while Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Simon Overland is waiting for requests
from his Queensland counterpart.
Mr Ryan said Victorian emergency workers who had been sent to Queensland over the past
few weeks had returned home but he has told Queensland's Emergency Services minister Neil
