DIRECTOR ENJOYS HISTORIES, MYSTERIES.(BOOKS)

Books currently on the night table of Patricia Di Benedetto Snyder, producing artistic director of the New York State Theater Institute since its inception in 1976, include mysteries, histories and biographies.

``A History of Scotland,'' by Bruce Lenman, Geoffrey Parker and John Duncan MacKie. ``This sounds like dry reading, but it's a great book,'' said Snyder. ``I've always been fascinated with that country, especially the Medieval period. The movie `Braveheart' also inspired me to get into the whole history of Scotland.''
