NSW: Neighbours say Howard's house vacant and neglected

Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD'S neighbours say his Wollstonecraft house on Sydney's northshore has been vacant and neglected for six years.

They say the swimming pool is covered with slime, the side fence is rotting and thelawn needs mowing.

The Sunday Telegraph quotes one neighbour as saying the house is looking pretty scruffy.

The neighbour says Mr HOWARD is letting down the standards of the neighbourhood.

Mr HOWARD'S official residence has been Kirribilli House in Sydney since he was electedprime minister.

He and his family moved to Kirribilli House after security staff estimated it wouldcost $1 million to upgrade security and the telephone system at the Wollstonecraft residence.
