Vic: Another 40 penguins being cleaned from oil spill

Another 40 fairy penguins are being cleaned up following last week's oil spill at Phillip
Island, south-east of Melbourne.

A spokesman from the island's nature park says the penguins were discovered last night
covered in oil.

A total of 300 birds have now been affected by the oil spill, first discovered on Thursday.

None of the penguins are believed to have died.

The spokesman says the penguins are being cleaned with a detergent and will soon be
released back into the wild.

The Environment Protection Authority has taken samples of the oil and is investigating
where it came from.
