Vic: Wind farm gets green light
The Victorian government has approved a 64-turbine wind farm earmarked for a rural
site west of Melbourne.
The 160-megawatt farm will be built on farm land at Mount Mercer .. 30 kilometres south
of Ballarat.
It's expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 73 thousand homes.
Planning Minister JUSTIN MADDEN says the development .. approved on the recommendation
of an independent panel .. is an economic and environmental boon for Victoria.
He says the project will save more than 390 thousand tonnes of carbon dioxide each
year.. create up to 120 construction jobs .. and 12 permanent positions.
