FED:Sailors treated like everyone: navy chief
Navy chief Vice Admiral RUSS CRANE says he doesn't believe Navy personnel are treated
any differently when they enter Australia as anybody else.
Defence investigators and New South Wales Police are looking into the alleged supply
and use of illicit substances by sailors at Sydney's Garden Island naval base.
Allegations emerged this week that the drugs had been smuggled into Australia aboard
Navy warships .. with 17 Navy personnel identified as alleged members of the drug ring.
Vice Admiral CRANE says he's returned to Australia from overseas on many ships .. and
he believes they get the same treatment as everybody else.
He says the Navy has zero tolerance for trafficking and dealing in illegal drugs.
